Aimee's Got a New Phone!

I am thrilled about my new phone. On Friday it arrived and by Monday I am already blogging from it.

It's insanely cool!

I look forward to using my new mobile phone (VU by LG) to blog on the fly this week while in NYC.

Aimee's Links: Hands Down, Best Mac Support Page

Yesterday, I was searching for a standalone version of Safari (for Windows XP) for a pal. Then to my surprise, not only did I find the download, but also an extremely essential Apple Support Page:I think it's great that most software companies now automatically detect our computer's settings so they can serve and auto install our machines with the appropriate version of their software.

However, there are times when some of us need a specific version for a particular reason, for instance, to help a friend who can't download it. Thank you Apple for this useful source.

Was this useful? Why don't you leave me a comment and let me know your thoughts..

vol. I issue 2

Problem: Unable to download software into my computer.

Possible Solutions:

  1. Check your Internet security software settings to allow downloads:
  • for Vista & XP; start-control panel-security settings and/or parental controls.

  • If you run a separate firewall program like Norton or Zone Alarm-check those settings as well.
2. Check your IE preferences. In Internet Explorer, go to Tools-Internet Options.

Windows Help & How To on:3. Try installing and using another browser program. (Firefox or Safari is what I recommend. Both are free & easy to use.)If you don't have either already on your machine and are unable to download files, then:
  • Go to another computer (friend or work pc) and download the browser software-burn to cd or thumb drive-then take cd & install on original computer. This will allow you to download files through a new browser as a "work around" since your current browser is not functioning properly.

  • Download Firefox Browser-Standalone Versions (can be burned to cd or saved to a thumb drive)
